The first challenge, the Truck Pull, humbled all 18 participants.

In this challenge, participants would attempt to pull 12 tonne truck across a specified distance, where the fastest completing time wins the challenge.

Sadly, not a single participant was able to budge the quarry stone laden lorry. Despite every attempt to draw their strength, not one participant was able to complete the challenge, let alone move the truck even an inch off its mark.

The second challenge, which was the Farmer’s Walk, provided better entertainment for eager spectators who gathered at the event.

In this event, participants will carry two 100kg loads, one in in each hand, and walk across a predetermined distance to see who can complete the task the fastest.

Alfred Magabis was the top competitor when he registered a time of 18.60s.

New-comer Nazri Sitol registered the second best time of 19.02s, while Hanesty Ahandoi, who clocked 19.52s, was third best.

All three competitors are from Kudat.

The day came to an end with the third and final event, which was the Tire Flip.

This challenge requires competitors to flip a 250kg bulldozer tire across two points. The fastest competitor to complete the challenge wins the event.

Singaporean Titan, Sulaiman Ismail brought the crowd to a cheer with his display of strength as he completed the challenge in 30.22s.

His fellow compatriot, Ahmad Taufiq registered the second best time of 30.82s, while Alfred completed the top three placing with his time of 32.74s.

Alfred topped the overall standings with 22 points, with a first and third place finish in the Farmer’s Walk and Tire Flip events respectively.

Ahmad, who came fourth in the Farmer’s Walk (20.36s) and second in the Tire Flip is on 20 points. He is in joint second place with Nazri Sitol, who was second best in the Farmer’s Walk and fourth in the Tire Flip (40.35s).

Currently in third place is Sulaiman on 19 points. He was first in the Tire Flip but finished in sixth place in the Farmer’s Walk (22.23s).

Hanesty takes up fourth place with 17 points. He completed the Farmer’s Walk in third place and was sixth in the Tire Flip (40.35s), followed by Yasir Almakky from Singapore in fifth.

Yasir, who is on 11 points, finished eighth in the Farmer’s Walk (28.17s) and was seventh in the Tire Flip (43.91s).

The action continues today with the final three challenges, namely the Car Deadlift, Yoke Walk and Atlas Stone events.

Mayor, Datuk Abidin Madingkir officiated at the tournament’s launching.

source : http://www.dailyexpress.com.my/news.cfm?NewsID=77498 Kota Kinabalu: The Sabah’s Strongestman (OKS-Orang Kuat Sabah) Challenge 2011 exploded into action here yesterday with participants going head to head in the first set of three challenges designed to push their muscles to the limit.
