Rules & Regulation

GENERAL RULES

  • Athletes to wear the Orang Kuat Sabah (OKS) competition t-shirts provided to them for ALL events.

  • Be respectful for the loaders , crew and judges. They work hard behind the scenes for you.

  • If you believe there is a problem with current proceedings on the day, please bring it to the attention of Event Director Steve Mositun or Technical Coordinator Taufiq or Alvin

  • If the competitor has any physical issues to would not allow them to complete an event to the exact rules as outlined below, it must be brought to the attention of the judges before hand, not after. EG: if you have broken a leg in the past and have trouble locking your knees out in the deadlift or elbow for you overhead events.

  • NO vulgarities during each events – Vulgarities will result in an instant disqualification from the events or proceedings

  • NO electronic devices are allowed in the competition area

  • Always show the best form of sportsmanship and camaraderie which is inherent and expected in all strongman competitions.


CIRCUS DUMBBELL

58kg – Feather Dumbell

78kg – Circus Dumbell

  • Athletes need to be responsible for knowing when they are starting their lifts.

  • Athletes are allowed to choose between Feather or Circus Dumbell

  • If an athlete A completes 10 reps on the feather dumbell and athlete B completes 1 rep on the circus dumbell, Athlete B wins the event

  • All protective sleeves, wraps, soft belt, lifting belt or gloves are allowed.

  • Two belts, one above the other on the torso (equivalent to a stepped setup), is not allowed. A loop in the belt is not allowed.

  • You will ONLY be given 30 seconds to get ready for this event, includes strapping up, wearing of your gear and being ready for the start whistle.

  • Command will be given “Take Your Mark”, “Ready” and followed by a loud whistle blow, athletes are to begin upon hearing the whistle.

  • Once in an overhead lockout position, athletes need to wait for the command “Down” before lowering the implement.

  • Athlete to continue attempt the lift until time is called

  • No dumping of equipment, do try your best to drop it on the tyres or rubber mats provided

  • Duration for event is 60 seconds.

  • In the event if athlete does NOT complete a single overhead repetition – ZERO points will be awarded.

  • Referee’s decision is FINAL.

  • Chalk only


 

LAST MAN STANDING DEADLIFT – 260kg, 300kg, 330kg, 365kg, 380kg

  • Athletes need to be responsible for knowing when they are starting their lifts.

  • All protective sleeves, wraps, soft belt, lifting belt or gloves are allowed.

  • Deadlifts suits allowed.

  • Lifting straps or Figure 8 straps allowed

  • You will ONLY be given 30 seconds to get ready for this event, includes strapping up, wearing of your gear and being ready for the start whistle.

  • Command will be given “Take Your Grip”, “Ready” and followed by a loud whistle blow, athletes are to begin upon hearing the whistle.

  • Once in the lockout position, athlete must have knees, hips and shoulders locked out. Athletes need to wait for the command “Down” before lowering the bar.

  • Athlete to continue doing the repetitions until time is up or until they choose to stop.

  • No dumping of bar, Dumping of bar = No Lift

  • Duration for each event is 60 seconds

  • In the event if athlete does NOT complete a single repetition – ZERO points will be awarded.

  • Referee’s decision is FINAL.

  • Chalk only


LOADING RACE – 100kg X 4 ITEMS

  • Athletes are to stand behind the stated line before the start of the events.

  • Command will be given “Take Your Mark”, “Ready” and followed by a loud whistle blow, athletes are to begin upon hearing the whistle.

  • Athletes are to lift and carry the loads over a distance of 10 metres and load onto a platform.

  • There are no restrictions on how you move the implements (bear hug, overhead or on the shoulder).

  • Upon reaching point B load must be loaded over a bar

  • Athletes have 60 seconds to complete all 4 loads. (2 tyres and 2 stones)

  • When athletes have completed all 4 loads, judge will call for time and athletes hands must not be touching the loads or the platform.

  • In the event that athlete does not manage to complete event during the stipulated time of 60 seconds, the “split” timing of last completed load will be taken.

  • In the event if athlete does NOT complete a single load onto the platform – ZERO points will be awarded.

  • Distance of load carried from start line will NOT be considered. You need to load the keg/sandbag on the barrel to score points.

  • All protective sleeves, wraps, soft belt, lifting belt or gloves are allowed.

  • Chalk only.

  • Referee’s decision is FINAL


ATLAS STONE – 135kg/150kg/165kg

  • Athletes need to be responsible for knowing when they are starting their lifts

  • You will ONLY be given 30 seconds to get ready for this event, includes strapping up, wearing of your gear and being ready for the start whistle

  • All protective leather sleeves, neoprene sleeve, wraps, soft belt, lifting belt or gloves are allowed

  • Command will be given “Take Your Mark”, “Ready” and followed by a loud whistle blow, athletes are to begin upon hearing the whistle

  • Atlas stones need to be lifted over the bar for repetition to count.

  • There will be three stones only (135kg, 150kg and 165kg)

  • Once the stone comes to contact with the rubber mat, split timing will be taken.

  • In the event if athlete does NOT complete a single repetition – ZERO points will be awarded.

  • Referee’s decision is FINAL.

  • Tacky is allowed


BUS PULL – 10-15TONNES*

  • Athletes need to be responsible for knowing when they are starting their lifts

  • You will ONLY be given 30 seconds to get ready for this event, includes strapping up, wearing of your gear and being ready for the start whistle

  • All protective leather sleeves, neoprene sleeve, wraps, soft belt, lifting belt or gloves are allowed

  • Command will be given “Take Your Mark”, “Ready” and followed by a loud whistle blow, athletes are to begin upon hearing the whistle

  • Athletes will be strapped into an Ironmind Harness

  • Once the front of the bus crosses the finished line, time will be taken

  • In the event if athlete does NOT complete the distance, the completed distance will be taken – ZERO points will be awarded if the bus does not move

  • Referee’s decision is FINAL.


 

TYRE FLIP – 500kg

  • Athletes need to be responsible for knowing when they are starting their lifts

  • You will ONLY be given 30 seconds to get ready for this event, includes strapping up, wearing of your gear and being ready for the start whistle

  • All protective leather sleeves, neoprene sleeve, wraps, soft belt, lifting belt or gloves are allowed

  • Command will be given “Take Your Mark”, “Ready” and followed by a loud whistle blow, athletes are to begin upon hearing the whistle

  • Athletes are required to complete a total of 5 flips of the tyre

  • Time will be taken when the 5th flip comes to contact on the ground

  • In the event if athlete does NOT complete the 5 flips, the completed number of flips will be taken – ZERO points will be awarded if there is no completed flips

  • Referee’s decision is FINAL.
